What Kind of Mint for Mojito
When you’re at the grocery store, smell the leaves. Smell them before you buy them. If it smells like a fresh, clean breeze—spearmint. If it smells like a cough drop—peppermint.
Look at the stems. Spearmint stems are usually green and smooth. Peppermint stems are often a darker, purplish color. That’s your cheat code.
If you’re growing your own (which you absolutely should), pick the top leaves. They’re the youngest and most tender. The bottom leaves get woody and bitter.
