Bali's Weather in December
Here’s the part nobody tells you: December is absolutely lush. The rain turns the island into a riot of green. The rice paddies look like emerald velvet, the waterfalls are roaring with power, and the flowers—oh, the frangipani—are drunk on water and smell divine. It’s the most photogenic version of Bali, no filter needed.
This is also the season for some seriously magical sunsets. After a rainy afternoon, the sky often clears up just in time for golden hour, painting the clouds in shades of pink, orange, and purple. You’ll be sipping a coconut on the beach, watching the show, and thinking, “Wet season? What wet season?”

A Few Friendly Survival Tips
Pack a universal power bank—your phone will die faster because of all the photos and Google Maps. Bring a reusable water bottle (hydration is key), and definitely bring mosquito repellent. The little buzzers love a humid evening, so spray up before sunset. Also, a dry bag for your phone and wallet is a genius move when you’re caught in a sudden downpour.
Wear shoes that can get wet. Flip-flops are fine, but a pair of lightweight, quick-dry sneakers will save you when you’re walking through a 2-inch puddle on a temple visit. And if you forget something? Don’t worry—Bali’s shops sell everything, including cheap rain ponchos that make you look like a bright plastic adventurer. Own it.
