How Long to Toast Bread for Stuffing
If you toast too little, your stuffing becomes a brick. A wet, sad brick.
If you toast too long, your stuffing is hard and dry. It will scratch your throat.
The 10-to-12 minute window is the sweet spot. The Goldilocks zone. The savory paradise.
The Cool-Down Phase
After toasting, let the cubes cool for 10 minutes. They continue to dry out even after they leave the oven.
This is called “carryover drying.” It’s a real thing. I didn’t make it up.
If you add broth to hot cubes, they steam and get rubbery. Let them breathe.
