How to Get to London City
If you want to feel like you’re in a very slow, very polite sci-fi movie, take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). These driverless trains glide silently above the streets, giving you a bird’s-eye view of office workers crying over spreadsheets. The DLR is the only way to arrive at Bank or Tower Gateway without breaking a sweat. And because there’s no driver, you can sit in the front seat and pretend you’re piloting a spaceship. Just don’t make “pew pew” noises too loudly. The other passengers will judge you. (I’ve done it. They judged me.)
The Best Way to Get from Stansted to London
Surprising fact: The DLR uses a computer system that was originally designed for a Disneyland ride. Yes, your commute to a serious financial district operates on the same logic as Space Mountain. It’s either brilliant or terrifying. Maybe both.
