Nitrous Oxide in Beets
Not at all. The nitrous oxide in beets is harmless. Your body metabolizes it so fast you’d never notice. Unless you eat beets by the truckload. Then you might get a mild headache—and a very red bathroom visit.
It’s actually the opposite: beets are heart-healthy. Nitric oxide from beets lowers blood pressure, improves exercise performance, and might even protect your brain. The tiny laugh-gas kick is just a bonus—a natural, legal, and delicious one.
Pronunciation Confusion
Fun side note: “Beet” and “beat” sound the same. That means “nitrous oxide in beets” could sound like “nitrous oxide in beats”—as in, you’re breathing gas while dancing to a drummer. I’m not saying you should try that. But it’s funny to imagine.
