Removing Sulfites from Wine
Wine is already a theater. The swirling. The sniffing. The dramatic sighs. Adding “sulfite removal” turns you into a mad scientist. You get to say words like “volatilization” and “copper chelation.” At dinner parties, people will lean in. They’ll ask questions. You’ll look like a genius or a lunatic. Both are fun.
Plus, it’s a great excuse to buy more gadgets. Who doesn’t want a copper wand that costs forty bucks? “It removes sulfites, honey. It’s for my health.” Works every time.
A Final, Happy, Slightly Tipsy Note
Whether you decant, aerate, test, or freeze—remember: wine is supposed to make you happy. Not anxious. Sulfites aren’t the enemy. They’re just a conversation starter. And now you have a whole conversation about them.
So pour a glass. Remove the sulfites. Or don’t. The headache is probably from that third glass anyway. Cheers to science. Cheers to mystery. Cheers to you, you beautiful wine wizard.
