Prince George Prepares for Boarding School by Spending Nights Away
Because it’s a reminder that even future kings get nervous about big changes. We all go through that scary moment of leaving home for the first time—whether it’s for college, a new job, or just a sleepover at your aunt’s house. George is basically our mascot for bravery with a side of posh accent.
Watching him prepare is oddly comforting. If a nine-year-old who will one day rule a country can handle sleep deprivation and homework at Eton, we can totally handle our own Monday mornings. It’s a team sport called “growing up,” and George is on the starting line with a mini-scepter and a bag of crisps.
The verdict: He’ll be fine, and so will we
By the time you read this, George might have already aced his first sleepover trial. He’s probably learned that the pillow is softer when you don’t have a crown on it, and that friends make the scary parts way less scary. Resilience is built one night away at a time.
So here’s to Prince George, the boy who will soon be the king of the common room. He’s smashing the whole “preparation” phase, and he’s doing it with a smile (and likely a royal wave). You’ve got this, George. And if you ever get lonely, just remember: your dad probably did the same thing, and he turned out okay—mostly.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to practice my own “sleeping away from home” skills by napping on a friend’s couch. It’s the least I can do to support our future monarch. Cheers to small victories and big beds!
