What Stadium Is Ted Lasso Filmed In
Here’s a bit of trivia that will make you the star of your next pub quiz. The goal posts used on the show are not standard Premier League issue. They’re actually American football goalpost bases disguised to look like soccer nets.
Why? Because the filming schedule required the fake grass to be rolled up and moved around constantly. Real, heavy-duty goalposts are a nightmare to shift. So, the prop department built lightweight, collapsible imposters. It’s like they built a Lamborghini out of cardboard and hope. And it worked.
Also, the grass you see on TV? Utterly fake. It’s a state-of-the-art artificial turf made by a company called GreenFields. They installed it specifically for the show, and it has to be perfectly green, all season long. Real grass would have divots and mud. Ted Lasso’s world doesn’t have mud; it has extra helping of metaphors.
