The Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs Cambridge
Don’t just stare at the front. Walk around the sides. There are side chapels dedicated to saints you’ve probably never heard of. My favorite is the Chapel of the English Martyrs—it has this tiny, intimate feel with a relic (a bone fragment) of one of the martyrs. It’s a little weird, but also deeply moving. And the Lady Chapel behind the main altar is all soft blues and golds—like a cozy, holy blanket.
Also, pop outside to the garden. It’s a peaceful pocket with a statue of Saint John Fisher (one of the martyrs). Sit on the bench and watch the city rush by. You’ll feel like you’ve time-traveled.
