How to Get out of Exponent in Google Docs
Okay, but what if you’re a mouse person? I get it. Some of us like to point and click, like ordering takeout from a menu. Fear not, my trackpad-loving friend. You have a secret weapon: the toolbar.
Look at the top of your screen, near the font size and the bold button. There are two little icons that look like an “A” with a small “a” next to it. One is for superscript (that’s your exponent), and one is for subscript (the little number that sits below the line).
To get out, simply highlight the tiny exponent text and click the superscript icon again. It’s like unbuttoning a shirt that’s too tight. One click, and your number breathes easy again.
The Foot Pedal Analogy You Didn’t Ask For
Think of it like driving a car with a clutch. You press the pedal down to shift into exponent gear. You press it again to pop back into normal driving mode. If you just sit there with the pedal down, you’ll rev the engine and smell burning rubber. Your text will look weird and your friend will ask, “Is that a math problem?”
