How to Deter Spiders from House
Spiders are tiny ninjas. They can squeeze through cracks you’d never even notice. Grab a tube of caulk and go full detective on your baseboards, windows, and door frames.
Pay special attention to gaps around pipes and wiring holes. If you can fit a credit card through it, a spider can definitely fit through it. I sealed a tiny gap behind my stove last fall, and the spider population dropped by half.
Don’t forget the light attraction trap
Here’s the thing: spiders don’t just show up because they like your décor. They show up because other bugs are there first. Outdoor lights act like a neon “All You Can Eat” sign for moths and gnats.
Switch your porch and garage lights to yellow “bug lights” or LEDs with a warmer color. It’s less attractive to flying insects, which means fewer snacks for spiders. Think of it as cutting off their food delivery service.
