Cheapest Way to Travel in London Underground
The Tube has peak times (6:30-9:30am and 4-7pm on weekdays) when fares are higher. If you can nudge your travel by just 10 or 15 minutes, you’ll pay the lower off-peak rate. For example, leaving work at 3:50pm instead of 4:05pm can save you a pound each way. That’s two quid a day, ten quid a week, forty quid a month—hello, new pair of shoes.
I have a friend who schedules her dentist appointments for 10am just to dodge the peak. She calls it “strategic procrastination,” and honestly, it works. Timing is everything on the Tube, and your wallet will thank you.
