Crockpot vs Slow Cooker
The term crockpot is actually a brand name, first trademarked by the Rival Company in the 1970s. It’s the OG of countertop braising, with a stoneware insert and a heating element that wraps around it like a warm hug. Slow cooker, on the other hand, is the generic name for any appliance that cooks food low and slow—usually between 170°F and 280°F.
Think of it this way: all Crock-Pots are slow cookers, but not all slow cookers are Crock-Pots. Kind of like how all Kleenex are tissues, but not every tissue is a Kleenex. Mind blown yet?
