Capital City of the United Kingdom
London is absolutely bonkers. It’s a city where a 900-year-old castle sits next to a shiny glass skyscraper that looks like a giant pickle. Seriously, 30 St Mary Axe (the Gherkin) is just there, winking at the Tower of London.
You can’t walk five minutes without bumping into a royal guard, a double-decker bus, or a pigeon that looks like it’s seen some things. And the Tube? It’s a sweaty, crowded, weirdly charming underground maze. Mind the gap, indeed.
Why It’s the Capital, Not Just a City
London didn’t become the capital by accident. It’s been the political, economic, and cultural heavyweight since the Romans set up camp here two thousand years ago. Buckingham Palace is where the King does his King-ing. Big Ben (technically the Elizabeth Tower, but let’s be real) bongs out the time for the whole country.
Want to see where laws are made? Go to the Houses of Parliament. Want to see a million pounds? Walk through the Bank of England. This city runs the UK. No pressure, right?
