How to Stop Slugs Coming in the House at Night
If slugs are waltzing in from your garden, you need to make your yard a hostile fortress of desiccation. Remove leaf piles, mulch, and anything that keeps moisture near your foundation. Create a “dry moat” of gravel or crushed eggshells around your house—slugs won’t cross it because it’s like walking on Legos for their gooey feet.
You can also recruit a living army. Hedgehogs, frogs, and ground beetles are slug assassins. Build a small pond or a log pile, and these creatures will move in and treat your slug problem like an all-you-can-eat buffet. Some people even buy nematodes—microscopic worms that infect and kill slugs underground. It’s biological warfare, and it’s totally legal.
