How to Clean the Paint Roller
Never, ever store a wet roller. It’s a breeding ground for mildew and a one-way ticket to a ruined finish next time. Stand the roller on its end, preferably on a wire rack or an old towel, in a warm, airy space.
If you’re in a rush, point a fan directly at it. A fully dry roller should feel fluffy and soft, not stiff. You can keep it pristine by wrapping it in its original plastic sleeve or a clean paper bag.
Fun fact: A well-maintained microfiber roller can be reused up to five times. That’s five rooms, five projects, or one massive accent wall, all from one tool. Your wallet will thank you.

The “Late Night” Emergency Fix
What if you’re exhausted and the paint is already crusting on your roller? Don’t panic. Soak it in a bucket of warm water mixed with a generous amount of fabric softener for 30 minutes. The softeners help loosen the dried latex.
Then, use a stiff-bristled brush to gently work out the hardened bits. It takes a little elbow grease, but it beats buying a new roller at midnight. Desperate times call for gentle solvents.
