Where to See the Aurora Borealis Tonight
Before you even grab your coat, open a forecast app or website. I like the NOAA Aurora Dashboard or “My Aurora Forecast.” They tell you if the sky is feeling dramatic tonight.
Look for a Kp-index of 4 or higher if you’re far south. If you’re in Alaska or northern Canada, a 2 might already be your ticket to a sky-show. Basically, higher number = bigger light-bender.
Also, check the cloud cover. You cannot dance with the lights if a giant gray blanket is ruining the party. No clouds? We’re in business.
