Cholesterol in Shrimp vs Chicken
It turns out that while shrimp is indeed high in cholesterol, it's also low in saturated fat, which is a major contributor to high cholesterol levels. In fact, a 3-ounce serving of shrimp contains only about 1 gram of saturated fat, which is pretty impressive. So, go ahead and indulge in that shrimp cocktail, guilt-free!
On the other hand, chicken is often thought of as a "healthy" food, and for good reason: it's high in protein and low in saturated fat. But, did you know that some types of chicken, like chicken thighs, can be relatively high in cholesterol? Don't worry, though, a 3-ounce serving of chicken breast contains only about 60 milligrams of cholesterol, which is still relatively low.
