When Was the Dartford Tunnel Built
Today, the Dartford Crossing handles over 150,000 vehicles a day. That’s more than the entire population of a small city, all crammed into a concrete tube. And it all started with a vision: let’s build a hole under a river so people can get to work faster. (Spoiler: They still get stuck in traffic, but now they do it underground.)
So, when was the Dartford Tunnel built? The answer is a two-parter: 1963 for the first bore, 1980 for the second. But really, it was built with persistence, sweat, and a lot of concrete.
