How to Turn off Ads by Google on Android
Look for a toggle that says "Opt out of Ads Personalization." This is the equivalent of putting a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your digital bedroom door. Flip that switch. Do it now. Your phone might shudder with betrayal, but you’ll survive.
Once you opt out, you’ll still see ads—but they’ll be hilariously dumb. Instead of ads for hiking boots you actually want, you’ll get ads for “Shark-Repellent Socks” or “Pre-Chewed Bubblegum.” It’s annoying, but at least it’s not judging your search history.
The Web Version: A Browser Exorcism
Don’t forget your web browser. Open Chrome, tap the three dots (the “menu of mystery”), and go to Settings > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects. Block that nonsense. Pop-ups are the cockroaches of the internet—you can’t kill them all, but you can spray a lot of digital Raid.
