We can’t skip Bagheera, the panther, voiced by the elegant Sebastian Cabot. His voice was all class and concern, constantly rolling his eyes at Baloo’s nonsense. He was the responsible dad you need but also kind of a buzzkill.

And Colonel Hathi, the elephant with the military obsession? That was J. Pat O’Malley, who sounded like he’d just stepped out of a British army mess hall. The man had range—he also played the vulture in the same movie!

Finally, there’s the slithery, silly, unforgettable Kaa. We already mentioned Sterling Holloway, but we have to give a shoutout to the animators who made his eyes swirl. His voice is like warm honey mixed with a lie. Chills.
