Who Is Eligible for Free School Meals

Who Is Eligible for Free School Mealsに関する深掘り解説を丁寧に解説いたします。

Okay, buckle up. Some schools are so awesome that they offer free meals to every single student. This is called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

It’s for schools where at least 40% of kids already qualify for free meals. The school just says, “Eh, let’s feed everyone.” It saves paperwork and keeps hungry bellies full. If your kid goes to one of those schools, congrats! You’re in the zero-effort zone.

To find out, ask the school secretary. They know everything.

The "Gray Area" of Immigrant Families

Here’s a big one: your child’s immigration status doesn’t matter. A kid can get free school meals even if their parents are undocumented. The program is for the child’s nutrition, not for checking papers.

So, if you’re worried about that, don’t be. The school is only asking about your income and your enrollment in other programs. They are not the immigration police, I promise. They just want to make sure little Juan or little Maria isn’t living on goldfish crackers and hope.
