Is Persia Modern Day Iran
Fast forward to the 20th century, and Persia underwent a bit of an identity crisis. In 1935, the country officially changed its name to Iran, which is derived from the word "Aryan", meaning "noble" or "exalted". It's like when you decide to rebrand yourself on social media, but instead of changing your Twitter handle, you change the name of your entire country.
Now, you might be wondering, what's the difference between Persia and Iran? Well, it's a bit like the difference between your cool grandma and your cool aunt - they're related, but they have different personalities. Persia refers to the ancient empire, while Iran is the modern country that emerged from it.
Despite the name change, Persian culture is still very much alive and kicking in Iran. The country is home to stunning architecture, delicious cuisine, and vibrant festivals, all of which are steeped in Persian tradition. And, fun fact, Iranians still celebrate ancient Persian holidays, like Nowruz, which is like the Persian version of New Year's Eve, but with more food and music.
