C2C from Barking to Fenchurch Street
Barking is a real place. It’s not named after a noisy dog. But everyone makes the pun. You’ll hear people say, “I’m taking the train from Barking.” Then they pause. It’s irresistible. Even the train company leans into it. Their Twitter account once posted a photo of a dog saying, “We don’t actually bark.”
But here’s the kicker. Fenchurch Street sounds fancy. Like something out of a Dickens novel. The contrast is magnificent. You go from “woof” to “welcome to 19th-century commerce” in under half an hour.
