Half a Pound of Crab
Half a pound of crab is an awkward amount—not enough for a feast, but too much for a garnish. Most cookbooks will tell you to make crab cakes or a fancy bisque, but honestly? Who has time for that on a Tuesday? The trick is to stop treating it like a commitment and start treating it like a happy little surprise. I tossed mine into some scrambled eggs the next morning, and suddenly breakfast felt like a coastal vacation.
That’s the first lesson: small, good things don’t need a ceremony. You don’t need a white tablecloth or a recipe from a celebrity chef. You just need to open the bag and let the crab do its thing—and yes, butter helps. (When doesn’t it?)
