How to Peel Raw Beets
Scrub those beets under cold water like you’re giving them a spa treatment. Dirt hides in every crevice. Use a brush if you’re feeling intense. Dry them off completely—wet beets are slippery little devils. A slip means a sliced finger, and we’re not making beet blood soup today.
Trimming the top and tail
Lay the beet on its side. Slice off the long, stringy tail. Leave about an inch of the stem on the top. Why? It gives you a handle to grip while peeling. Hold that stem like it’s the beet’s little ponytail. Yes, I’m serious.
