How to Peel Beets Easily
Start by washing your beets. Don’t scrub—just rinse off the dirt. You want the skin intact for now.
Trash the greens if you have them. Save those leaves for salad later—they’re delicious. But for peeling, we only care about the root.
Drop the beets into a pot of boiling water. Add a big splash of vinegar—it helps keep the color vibrant. Boil them for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on size.
How do you know they’re done? Stick a fork in one. It should slide in like butter. If it fights back, boil longer.
Drain the beets and let them cool. Don’t burn your fingers—that’s your spa day ruined. Run cold water over them to speed things up.
Now for the fun part. Grab a beet. Pinch the skin at the stem end. Push gently—the skin will slip right off like a tight glove.
It’s oddly satisfying. You’ll feel like a magician. Ta-da—naked beet!
If a bit of skin sticks, just rub it with your thumb. It comes off in seconds. No knife needed. No tears.
