How to Test Starter Motor with Multimeter
To test the starter motor with a multimeter, you'll need to set the multimeter to DC voltage mode and connect the positive lead to the starter motor's positive terminal. Then, connect the negative lead to the negative terminal – easy peasy, right? Now, turn the key to the "start" position and take a reading on the multimeter.
The reading should be around 12 volts or so, depending on your car's battery voltage. If the reading is way off, it could indicate a problem with the starter motor or the electrical system. But don't worry if you're not sure what the reading means – we'll get to that in a minute.
