Oh, carpet wax is a special kind of chaos. But you’ve got this. Put a brown paper bag (like a grocery bag) over the wax, then run a warm iron over the paper bag.

The heat will melt the wax, and the paper bag will absorb it like a thirsty witch. Repeat with fresh sections of the bag until the carpet is happy again. It’s basically a science experiment you can do in your pajamas.
For Tile or Vinyl:
These floors are tanks. You can use the ice cube trick, and if anything is left, a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball will wipe away the residue. Just don’t rub for thirty seconds straight or you’ll get dizzy.
