Mow Before or After Weed and Feed
Think of weed and feed like a superhero potion for your grass. For the potion to work its magic, it needs to touch the weeds directly. If you skip the mow, those tall, leafy weeds will block the granules from reaching the soil and the smaller invaders hiding below.
Mowing first cuts down those big weeds and lets the product hit the ground where it matters. It’s like clearing the dinner table before serving the meal—you want the good stuff to land on the plate, not on a pile of clutter.
This step is especially crucial if you’re using a weed and feed with a pre-emergent herbicide. That stuff needs to form a barrier on the soil to stop future weeds, and long grass creates gaps. Nobody wants a weed ninja sneaking through a crack.
