Illinois County Sales Tax
The Illinois Department of Revenue collects sales tax from retailers and then distributes the funds to the corresponding counties. It's kind of like a big circle of life, where the money comes in, gets distributed, and then goes back out to support local communities. Pretty cool, huh?
Now, I know what you're thinking: what does this mean for me? Well, as a consumer, you'll notice that the sales tax rate is included in the price of the items you purchase. For instance, if you buy a new TV in a county with a 7% sales tax rate, you'll pay the original price of the TV plus 7% of that price. Not too bad, right?
