Tension Formula in Physics
Ready for the formula? It’s T = mg + ma. I know, letters and numbers look boring. But think of it as a recipe for a swinging party trick.
m is mass—how heavy the thing is. g is gravity—that invisible force keeping your feet on the ground. a is acceleration—how fast you yank the rope.
If the rope is just hanging still, a equals zero. Then the formula becomes T = mg. That’s just the weight of the object. Easy peasy.
But if you jerk the rope upward? Boom! Tension spikes. Your arm feels like it’s lifting a planet. That’s ma adding extra oomph.
