Sometimes, that microphone icon is a ghost. It refuses to leave. If it’s still sitting there on your keyboard, staring at you like a needy puppy, don’t panic.
Just long-press the microphone icon itself. A pop-up menu should appear. Look for “Remove” or “Hide.” Drag it away like you’re flicking a crumb off the table. It’s gone. Poof.
