Should You Store Potatoes in Refrigerator
There is one exception. I’ll admit it. Are you ready?
If you have already cooked potatoes, the fridge is fine. Leftover fries, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes? Yeah, pop them in the fridge. They’ll be safe for a few days.
Also, new potatoes or thin-skinned varieties (like red or fingerling) can survive a short fridge stint if you’re desperate. But don’t make it a habit.
Otherwise, keep raw potatoes out. Let them breathe. They aren’t milk. They don’t need to be coddled in cold.
