Us Relationship with Saudi Arabia
The US and Saudi Arabia started getting cozy back in the 1940s, when Franklin D. Roosevelt and King Abdulaziz became pen pals. Okay, not exactly, but they did meet on a ship in the Mediterranean, and it was the start of a beautiful friendship. The US saw an opportunity to tap into Saudi Arabia's oil reserves, and the Saudis saw a chance to get rich and powerful.
Fast forward to today, and the US-Saudi relationship is still all about oil and money. The US imports millions of barrels of Saudi oil every day, and in return, the Saudis get to buy US weapons and invest in American companies. It's a win-win situation, but not everyone is happy about it.
