Vernon Kay's New Bbc Show Widely Disliked by Viewers
On review aggregator sites, the show has a score so low it makes The Walking Dead’s most boring season look like a masterpiece. “I’d rather watch paint dry while listening to a dial-up modem,” wrote one user on Rotten Tomatoes. Another quipped, “The only one who’s ‘the one and only’ is the person who thought this was a good idea—they must be really special.” Ouch.
Even the typically loyal BBC Points of View inbox is reportedly flooded with complaints. One pensioner from Dorset wrote, “I tuned in expecting a nice quiz. Instead, I saw a man in a Boris Johnson wig doing a Scottish accent. I’ve had nightmares less disturbing.” The BBC’s official response? “We’re delighted with the show’s ‘unique energy.’” Translation: “We’re hoping you forget about this in time for the next series of Strictly.”
The Blame Game: Who’s the Real Villain?
Is it Vernon? He’s done fine work before. Remember All Star Family Fortunes? That was harmless fun. But here, he’s been given a script that sounds like it was written by an AI that only watched The Price Is Right after a strong coffee. He keeps saying things like, “Are you ready to play? Because I’m not ready to stop!” It’s like watching a man who’s desperate to win a game he’s already losing.
Do You Know Your Place viewers all issue the same huge complaint
Or maybe it’s the BBC. They’ve been on a roll with flops lately. Between this and That’s My Jam (which is basically karaoke with a budget), you have to wonder if the next big idea is “Contestants guess the weight of a cabbage while humming the EastEnders theme.” Don’t laugh. That’s probably in development.
